Since 1932 the Sussex Society of Rugby Union Referees has been providing Match Officials in Sussex and members, including recently, Roger Quittenton and David Sainsbury, have gone on to  National and International levels, with David Robertshaw being appointed to the National panel last season.

The Society now combines its appointments with the Kent Referees Society and also works closely with Sussex RFU, Sussex Schools RFU and the Sussex Clubs. Over recent years, the Society has gained a reputation as one of the most forward thinking and pro-active Referees Societies in England and its recruitment techniques have been adopted by the RFU for use on a National basis.

Much of the Societies work is involved with training , and new members, especially those without experience are welcomed, trained and guided towards becoming a Club referee or taking a full part in the Society's programme.

For more information including how to join the Society and explanations of the Laws of the game,
visit the Referees' Society's excellent web site.
