REPORTABLE INJURIES 
  This term replaces  the previously used  descriptions of Serious Injuries and Very Serious Injuries

he RFU has for a number of years, collected information from Clubs and Schools about injuries to players
to help make recommendations about safer practice in the game.

REPORTABLE INJURIES are defined as;

Any head or neck injury that requires a player to be transported directly from the ground to an Accident and Emergency
 Department.
(These injuries should be reported to the Sports Injuries Administrator (SIA) within 48 hours of the game, by both the appointed society referee and the nominated club official.   In case of training accidents, the nominated club official is to report to the SIA within 48 hours.)

Any injury that results in admission to hospital as an inpatient after the game / training has finished and is game / training related

These injuries to be reported to the SIA by the nominated club official.   These admission might happen after the game or some time later if surgery is subsequently required.   There is no need to include attendance at A & E for reasons other than acute head or neck  injuries (see previous category) or attendance at hospital outpatient clinics)

Any injury that prevents a player from playing or training for a period of 8 weeks or longer.
(These to be to the SIA reported by the nominated club official)

Deaths which occur during a game or within 6 hours of the game finishing
(Deaths occurring during the game should be reported by the appointed society referee and the nominated club official within 48 hours of the death or cause being determined)
Deaths that occur within 6 hours of a game finishing or where the post mortem shows the cause of death was linked to some aspect of the game should be reported
to the SIA by the nominated club official within 48 hours of the death or cause being determined.

Insurance

From August 1st 2006, The RFU has replaced the 'Conditional Funding' to Clubs with directly funded basic Insurance for Players, Officials and Administrators, including serious injury, negligence and Public and Product Liability.
for full details, see your Club Secretary or refer to the RFU Community pages.
THE RFU STILL ADVISE PLAYERS TO TAKE OUT ADDITIONAL INSURANCE TO COVER THEM FOR LOSS OF INCOME  THIS IS AVAILABLE THROUGH THE RFU POLICY OR INDEPENDENTLY.
 Touring Abroad Proposed Overseas Tour forms appear in the RFU Regulations Handbook, or are available for download on the RFU website.

Notification of a proposed tour abroad must be completed and sent to your Constituent Body  (County Secretary, Sussex RFU) not less than one month prior to the date of the proposed tour.   The notification will then be returned to the Operations Department, Rugby Football Union, Twickenham, Middlesex, TW1 1DS.
Receiving            IncomingTours Forms 'To receive an Incoming Tour' forms appear in the RFU  Handbook, or are available for download on the RFU website.

This application should be completed and returned to your Constituent Body  (County Secretary, Sussex RFU) not less than three months prior to the date of the proposed tour.   The application will then be returned to the Operations Department, Rugby Football Union, Twickenham, Middlesex, TW1 1DS.
